A considered move

A Spanish chapter.
A global perspective.

Spain’s international teleworker route offers eligible non-EU professionals a way to live in Spain while working remotely for businesses abroad. Start by understanding how the requirements fit your circumstances.

Make Spain
your home

Explore a residence route built around qualifying remote work, with space to plan your next chapter thoughtfully.

Plan together
as a family

Eligible partners, dependent children and dependent ascendants may apply, subject to the programme’s conditions.

Keep your
international focus

Continue qualifying work for businesses outside Spain, with employee and self-employed requirements reviewed separately.

Before you begin

Does your work
fit the route?

Your work arrangements, professional background and family plans all matter. A personal review helps identify what to clarify before you apply.

This is an introduction to the programme, not an eligibility decision. Requirements can change and the Spanish authorities decide applications.

  • You are an adult non-EU applicant seeking to work remotely from Spain.
  • You can document qualifying remote work for a business outside Spain and the required professional relationship.
  • You meet the relevant qualification or professional-experience requirements.
  • You can demonstrate sufficient financial resources for yourself and any accompanying family.
  • You can meet the applicable health coverage, social security and background-check requirements.

Financial resources are linked to Spain’s minimum wage: 200% for the main applicant, with additional amounts for family members. The applicable calculation should be confirmed when applying. Spanish client work is limited for qualifying self-employed applicants.

Useful answers

Before your
consultation.

Is this a property investment programme?

This page concerns Spain’s international teleworker, or digital nomad, route. Purchasing a property does not establish eligibility for this route.

Can my family apply with me?

Eligible spouses or partners, dependent children and dependent ascendants may apply, subject to relationship, dependency, financial and other requirements.

How much income is required?

The requirement is linked to Spain’s minimum wage and increases for accompanying family members. We can discuss the applicable calculation and evidence for your case during your consultation.

Can I apply from outside Spain?

Applicants abroad generally use the relevant Spanish consulate’s visa route. Residence-authorisation procedures depend on your lawful status and circumstances in Spain.

Are approval, timing or tax benefits guaranteed?

No. Approval and processing depend on the authorities and your circumstances. Any tax treatment requires a separate assessment and qualified tax advice.
